ESP: Este dibujo está inspirado en una de las tantas escenas hipnóticas de la película "The Lighthouse" (2019). Los contrastes marcados, la tensión y la intimidad claustrofóbica de la imagen me llevaron a querer plasmarla en papel. Aunque lo hice en 2021, recién hace poco lo volví a encontrar: un recordatorio de cómo ciertas imágenes permanecen grabadas en la memoria, esperando resurgir a través del arte. | EN: This drawing is based on one of the many mesmerizing shots from the film "The Lighthouse" (2019). The stark contrasts, the tension, and the claustrophobic intimacy of the scene pulled me to translate it onto paper. Although I drew it back in 2021, I only recently came across it again — a reminder of how certain images remain etched in memory, waiting to resurface through art.

ESP: Hay imágenes que trascienden la pantalla para convertirse en símbolos universales. Esta escena de "El Padrino" (1972) es, sin duda, una de las más icónicas de la historia del cine. Mi dibujo parte de ese instante cargado de atmósfera, poder y silencio. Hoy la obra pertenece al reconocido abogado penalista uruguayo Jorge Barrera, probablemente uno de los fanáticos más apasionados de la saga de "El Padrino" que he conocido en mi vida. | EN: Some images transcend the screen to become universal symbols. This scene from "The Godfather" (1972) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic in the history of cinema. My drawing takes inspiration from that moment, steeped in atmosphere, power, and silence. Today, the piece belongs to the renowned Uruguayan criminal lawyer Jorge Barrera, perhaps the most devoted fan of "The Godfather" saga I have ever met.

ESP: Este fue mi primer intento de retratar de perfil a mi padre. El manchón blanco en su mejilla no es un error: es la huella de la remoción de un melanoma hace años, una marca que con el tiempo se volvió parte de su identidad. Dibujar a mi padre no fue solo un ejercicio artístico, fue un acto de memoria, de gratitud y de reconocimiento a la historia que llevamos en el rostro y en la vida. | EN: This was my first attempt at portraying my father in profile. The white patch on his cheek is not a mistake: it is the mark left by the removal of a melanoma years ago, a trace that has since become part of his identity. Drawing my father was not just an artistic exercise, but an act of memory, gratitude, and recognition of the stories we carry on our faces and in our lives.

ESP: Desde muy chico me gustó dibujar. Este es un trabajo que hice a los 3 años, después de escuchar el cuento "La liebre solitaria" de un ignoto escritor japonés, Junkichi Kanbe. No copié un modelo: lo inventé desde la imaginación. Redescubro en este dibujo infantil lo esencial del arte: la capacidad de transformar una historia en imagen, de convertir lo invisible en algo compartido. Años después, ordenando papeles viejos, me crucé con este dibujo. Lo miré y me dije: “¡Bastante bien para un niño de 3 años!”. | EN: I’ve loved drawing since I was very young. This is a piece I made at the age of 3, after listening to the story "The Lonely Hare" by the unknown Japanese author Junkichi Kanbe. I didn’t copy a model — I created it from imagination. In this childhood drawing, I rediscover the essence of art: the ability to transform a story into an image, to turn the invisible into something we can share. Many years later, while going through old papers, I came across this drawing. I looked at it and thought: “Not bad for a 3-year-old!”

ESP: Hice este retrato para mi querido amigo Andrés Jaliff, con motivo de su cumpleaños número 40. Dibujar retratos es siempre un diálogo íntimo con la persona, y este en particular fue muy significativo: un homenaje a la amistad, al paso del tiempo y a las huellas que la vida va dejando en nosotros. EN: I created this portrait for my dear friend Andrés Jaliff, on the occasion of his 40th birthday. Drawing portraits is always an intimate dialogue with the person, and this one was especially meaningful — a tribute to friendship, time, and the traces life leaves on us.
